With a length of nearly 12 kilometers, Schaabe is Rügen’s longest natural bay.

Wittow’s north is affected by its cliff line and the conservation area Cape Arkona. The landscape in Wittow’s south is characterized by its several Bodden (lagunas that are typical fort he Baltic Sea). Jasmund peninsula is mostly known for its national park with a size of 3000 ha and its unique chalk cliffs. Also, Rügen’s landmark, the 118m high „Königsstuhl“ (king’s chair), is located on Jasmund. To walk through Rügen’s beech groves and to enjoy a beautiful view over the sea will be an experience you will never forget.

Rügen’s seaside resort Juliusruh got its name from Julius von der Lancken, who, in 1795, built a fram house at the edge of today’s spa gardens. He named this house „Juliusruh“. As early as 1883, the bathing associationsin Breege and Juliusruh (1895)were founded. In 1928, the neighboring villages Breege and Juliusruh were combined to one seaside resort.
